12 Monkeys

Considered by many to be Terry Gilliam's masterpiece 12 MONKEYS serves and one serious mind bender of a film. Bruce Willis is spectacular as the time traveling anti-hero bent on preventing a global holocaust cased by a mutated virus. Brad Pitt in one of his early film roles demonstrates the acting prowess that would later make him a legend and for anybody out there who cares there are some nice gratuitous bare bum shots of both Pitt and Willis for ya! Madeleine Stowe brings what I think is her career performance here and simply is outstanding. The soundtrack provided by Paul Buckmaster is well worth mentioning as I don;t believe I've ever heard an accordian (maybe a synth..who knows) sound so downright menacing. Look for a neat cameo from the late Frank Gorshin and LAW & ORDER hunk Christopher Meloni makes his big screen debut here as , surprise surprise, a detective. Overall, you simply couldn't ask for a finer film than 12 MONKEYS, great acting, wonderful sets, excellent script, just simply one bloody fine film.
